Did you miss Colorado Gives Day?
There’s still time to support the DCL Foundation in your year-end giving.

Douglas County Libraries Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax ID 84-1207775. Your support of the Foundation helps fund programs that reach youth, adults and families in Douglas County and across Colorado, and helps ensure the long-term success of our outstanding libraries.
Forest of Stories
Forest of Stories
Douglas County Libraries' Forest of Stories is a free cultural experience that is accessible to everyone in the community—no tickets required. Library customers of all ages may experience the joy and wonder of stories through this extensive exhibit of decorated, book-themed trees at all seven library locations from mid-November through early January each year.
Connecting the Community
The Douglas County Libraries Foundation delivers funding and resources to help sustain Douglas County Libraries and positively impact our community members so they can grow and thrive.
Dolly Parton with Children
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Through our partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Douglas County children from birth to age five can receive a free book each month, sent straight to their home, that they get to keep. Every eligible child in a family may participate and receive their own books, increasing the potential for learning success in school and encouraging a lifelong love of reading.
Scholarships & Support
The Foundation provides scholarships and financial support for customers attending various DCL programs, such as Camp DCL for kids and high school equivalency testing for adults. Thanks to these scholarships, kids in families facing financial hardship get the chance to play and learn at our day camps, and adults are able to achieve their high school graduation goals. Contact us for more information on accessing support for a fee-based program or service.
Cuddle Up & Read
Cuddle Up & Read
Through partnerships with area hospitals, Cuddle Up & Read provides new parents with a fun and meaningful introduction to the library and our early literacy services. The program includes small gifts for new parents and baby and an invitation to get baby a library card. We also distribute DCL growth charts, complete with reading suggestions and library service information, to parents through participating pediatricians’ offices across the county.
Summer Reading
Summer Reading
Each year, Douglas County Libraries' summer reading program encourages kids to begin reading from a young age, and keeps them reading during school breaks, so they grow up with a strong foundation in literacy. Readers of all ages are encouraged to complete the reading program each year.
Fête des Fables Gala
Fête des Fables Gala
Our annual Fête des Fables Gala, in addition to traditional cash donations, is a primary way that we fund our support of DCL programs. Each year, the Foundation invites guests to enjoy cocktails and a sumptuous meal, shop a fantastic silent auction, and mingle with friends old and new, while celebrating a classic story in a charming venue.
Foundation Endowment
Funding the Future: Giving Now for Generations to Come
Our endowment fund, managed by the Rose Community Foundation, strengthens the library’s ability to support and serve our community well into the future. Your legacy gift to the Douglas County Libraries Foundation Fund is tax-deductible.
